Theory of Change
Blue Engine has developed an evidence-based theory of change designed to accelerate academic achievement in high-need public high schools.
Our program is based on four main activities that supplement the work of classroom teachers to create critical masses of students who graduate from high school with the skills necessary to compete in college and complete postsecondary degrees.
- Small group tutorial sessions that help students of all ability levels become self-regulated learners and master core academic skills
- Curricular planning that helps students align their academic expectations with the demands of college-level work
- Family outreach designed to increase awareness of the relationship between academic rigor, high school coursework, and long-term college success
- College visits that help students increase their expectations and awareness for the roots of college success
The detailed model is presented below.
