Partner Schools

For the 2011-2012 school year, Blue Engine Teaching Assistants will work with students in three partner schools: Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School, Mott Hall Bronx High School, and the Urban Assembly School for Green Careers. Each partner school integrates BETAs into all aspects of school life and instruction. All partner schools are selected through a rigorous selection process.

Washington Heights Expeditionary Learning School

WHEELS was Blue Engine’s inaugural partner school in the 2010-2011 school year. Led by Principal Brett Kimmel, WHEELS belongs to a network of schools united by the Expeditionary Learning model. WHEELS is located in the predominantly Dominican neighborhood of Washington Heights in upper Manhattan, where the majority of its student population reside. BETAs provide support in mathematics to all 8th, 9th, and 10th Integrated Algebra and Geometry students, as well as support in English Language Arts to all 10th grade students. Mott Hall Bronx High School

Located in the South Bronx, Mott Hall Bronx High School is led by Principal Dave Tinagero. Mott Hall Bronx High School has been an IB World School since April 2007. BETAs support all students in Integrated Algebra as well as 9th and 10th grade students in English Language Arts. BETAs also provide college preparation and application support for students in 11th and 12th grades. For more information, please visit their DOE webpage.

Urban Assembly School for Green Careers

The Urban Assembly School for Green Careers is located in Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Led by Principal AJ Rathmann-Noonan, UAGC is part of the Urban Assembly schools network. UAGC’s mission is to give students access to the 21st century green economy by developing their problem-solving skills and their knowledge of green industries and environmental issues.
