Who We’re Looking For

Blue Engine recruits recent college graduates from all academic backgrounds to help accelerate academic achievement in high-need public high schools.
We seek individuals whose combination of past experiences—as students, leaders, and volunteers—have prepared them to excel under challenging circumstances and effect measurable change in the lives of young people.
Blue Engine Fellows must meet specific eligibility requirements.
- Bachelor’s Degree. You must have received your bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university by the first day of Blue Engine’s summer training institute in August.
- 2.50 Minimum GPA (undergrad). You must have a cumulative 2.50 GPA on a 4.00 scale from an accredited college or university at the time we receive your application.
- Service History. You must have served no more than a one-year term in another AmeriCorps, NCCC, or VISTA program.
- US Citizenship or National / Permanent Resident Status.
- Teaching certificates NOT required to become a Blue Engine Fellow
- Fellows must be cleared through background and security checks prior to beginning their year of service
Additional characteristics we look for in fellows include high standards of professionalism, exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm for teamwork, a prior record of perseverance in the face of difficult challenges, and a commitment to achieving measurable results.
